I found that my Fujitsu scansnap s1500 no longer worked after updating my windows 10 machine to Windows 11. Here I provide the solution on how I got my fujitsu scansnap s1500 working on Windows 11.

How I searched for the Solution

Looking around through google i found others experiencing the same problem:

How I Fixed my Fujitsu scansnap s1500 on Windows 11

This site here called Surprise! Fujitsu Releases 64-Bit ScanSnap Manager for Older Scanners gave me the clue I needed, they said “Fujitsu had updated ScanSnap Manager to V7, with the company saying “We’ll soon be making ScanSnap Manager available for the new iX1500, as well as for earlier models.”

This directed me to the site showing the software updated for older scanner versions.

The problem here is when you see my scanner the Fujitsu scansnap s1500 it only had the macOS drivers. (Screenshot below)

I worked out but altering the destination page, I could find the Windows 11 Drivers.

Step by Step on how to Fix ScanSnapS1500 on Windows 11

  1. Take notes of any custom settings on your existing ScanSnap software.
  2. Uninstall your ScanSnap Manager software Add Remove Programs.
  3. Download the Windows ScanSnap Installer Setup Program from here – https://scansnap.fujitsu.com/global/dl/setup/w-inst2-v7.html
  4. After Installation it should work, if not reboot your computer.

Windows 11 Copilot

Someone found they had issues after the install that the icon for Scansnap manager stays gray. 

Currently i do not know a fix for Copilot version of windows, I do not have it myself so unable to test.

In the device manager, it shows an error for the device (“The drivers for this device are not installed. Code 28). There are no compatible drivers for this device”). Trying to update the driver through Windows.

Right Click and Update Driver and install manually from this file downloaded, that i created with exporting my windows 11 pro drivers.

Conclusion

I am so happy that Fujitsu listened to their customers and created an updated version of their software so customers can continue to use their ScanSnap S5100 again on Windows 11.
